Legal Question in Business Law in Indiana
If I never signed an agreement saying I am a partner in a small business and I have always filed a 1099 as a subcontractor...if one of the partners suddenly says everyone's an equal partner now (because the company's in debt) am I a partner? They want to give me a K-1 to file but I'm filing 1099-misc like I have the past 3 years. Just because we were all paid the same doesn't make us equal 'owners' of the company does it?
