Legal Question in Business Law in Indiana
Sole Proprietor Buisness Owner
Currently, my husband has taken hie ex-wife back to court to lower his weekly child support obligation. His ex-wife's attorney has subpoenaed my company to respond to answering questions, giving pay rates etc.
My question is: Can my husbands ex-wife's attorney request to look into my buisness records, contracts, deposits, etc. if his name is no where on the buisness.
Or, can a judge grant this ruling.

Re: Sole Proprietor Buisness Owner
The ex-wife is entitled to know relevant information about your husband's financial resources, which depending on the facts could include information about your business. If your business records have been subpoened, then you must either comply with the subpoena or file a motion to quash the subpoena. Your motion can say the request is for irrelevant private information. There are strict timelines for making the objection. Lawyers usually deal with these problems by working out compromises over the phone. Judges always scowl at lawyers who come into court with discovery disputes. Good luck.
