Legal Question in Business Law in Indiana
Which State's law applies?
Our company is headquartered in Indiana but has division offices and employees in 14 different states. As employment law issues arise, which state's laws apply -- the laws of the state in which we are headquartered (Indiana) or the laws of the state in which the employee resides?

Re: Which State's law applies?
If there is a federal law on the point in question, then federal law trumps state law. Otherwise, the employee's local law prevails.
Re: Which State's law applies?
It depends. The local EEOC offices will ship any complaint they have against your company to Indiana where your office is. Wage laws of the various states will apply in other matters. You should hire an experienced lawyer for advice and to help with these issues.
Re: Which State's law applies?
The local law applies to employees living in that state.
Re: Which State's law applies?
Federal Law applies if a federal issue, otherwise, generally, the law where the employee is at will apply.
