Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Indiana
Bench warrant
there is a law firm that keeps filing a petition for a bench warrant, i thought only a judge can issue a warrant, he is filing the petition in the Hammond, IN, court, for whatever the reason the warrant is not being issued, this is the 3rd time i got the papers in the mail that the petition is being filed. My question is how many times, if any, can this law firm keep on filing the petition, this is from 2004.I dont even know what the warrant is even about, should i attempt to contact this firm , or just get a lawyer myself?

Re: Bench warrant
You really do need to speak with an attorney about the matter. Bench warrants are warrants for the arrest of the individual and are issued by the Court. It may be on account of your not showing up to court on a civil matter, such as a debt collection action. If you don't appear, eventually, the Court will issue a bench warrant for your arrest.
