Re: Copyright?

A few preliminary questions:

1. Who shot the video? If the video is owned by someone else, your husband's actions may have violated copyright law.

2. Does the policy academy have any rules/regulations re: taking and posting a video? Setting copyright law aside, your husband could still face punishment if he violated internal police academy guidelines.

3. Did the other officers give their consent to appear in the video?

These are just some of the initial questions that need to be answered in order to better understand your husband's situation. Copyright law is probably not an obstacle, but internal police academy guidelines could be. Have your husband check with a superior officer to determine whether posting the video is appropriate.
