Legal Question in Construction Law in Indiana
I hired a roofer to roof my new home. I provided all the materials and paid him for the labor. He presented a certificate of insurance with a different contractors name on it, but this contractor said it was not a problem because this man did work for him all the time. He did a horrible job on the roofing and we have several leaks. We have attempted to call him to fix the leaks several times. On the last call, he indicated that he had his own insurance so we should not contact the man on the certificate for concerns. His insurance company has denied our claim because they said he is not covered for roofing. The company on the original certificate of insurance is denying coverage because their guy did not do the work. My insurance company denied our claim because they said our coverage did not cover negligence. I need a new roof before damage is done to the inside of my home. Do I have a lawsuit? Who should I contact. I live north of Indianapolis, IN

Who says there has to be insurance? Sue the roofer and his former employer directly. Lawyer up and hire local counsel.
