Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

In 1999 I co-signed (stupid I realize now) an application at a jewelry store. Three purchases were made but the other person was jailed for several years before he paid it off. A judgement was made against me last year. After 10 years, can they do that? How do I get the judgement reversed without paying the over $5,000 (originaldebt was just under $300)? Thank you. All took place in Indiana.
