Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana
I was arrested last month on a warrant for a body attachment from 2000. I spend the night in jail, bond was set at $792, which was paid & I bonded out. At my appearance in front of the judge, via video, from inside the country jail, she set a court date of Feb 29, 2016. The warrant was for an unpaid medical bill. Initial warrant was issued in 2000, then renewed in 2010. The amount of the court order is $419.48 + $147.70 (late charges) + $150.00 (attorney fees) = $756.18 (total sum). Do I need legal representation at my court date, since this is a pretty simple, obvious case? And does any of my bond, $792, go towards my debt?

If you are sure that the amount is correct and you can pay it at the time of the hearing, you probably don't need representation. Whether you get anything back from your bond depends on whether you posted the whole sum or just a percentage. If you had to post the whole bond, you may get part of it back. There are court costs to add to the sum owed too, so you had best ascertain those and add them to the $756.18.
