Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Re: Bank Garnishment

What I needed to know is why is my bank account is over $700 in the negative? And what happens at the hearing.....

question repeated..A creditor has garnished my wages back in Feb. I make about $200 per week. Yesterday they froze my bank account. I had $98. Now the bank charged me $20 (garnishment fee) and my account is -$709. I filed the Exemption Claim and Request for Hearing form. What happens next? I can't afford to file for bankruptcy, no money. I need help!

Re: Re: Bank Garnishment

I do not know why you are in the hole for $700.00. That seems a question best put to the bank.

As for what will happen at the hearing: you will be expected to explain to the court why your account is exempt from garnishment.
