Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana
My boyfriend had lived with me in Arkansas for 2.5 years he is from the state of Indiana.
He has received a notice in the mail from the plaintiff Atlas Collections located New Castle Indiana.
They are getting a judgement against him for interst owed on a paid off bill that was paid off 20 years ago. He is disabled and on social security. And unable to travel to New Castle in the state of Indiana where this court appearance is to take place tomorrow January 13th at 9:30 A.M. My boyfriend called
Atlas Collections INC three times and explained to them his situation they never returned his phone calls. My question is this: Is my boyfriend in contempt of court and if so what advice can you give him at this time what to do next?
1 Answer from Attorneys
He is not in contempt of court. Unfortunately he has to appear or hire counsel to defend the case.
