can a collection agency or law firm place a felony warrent for your arrest for an unpaid debt?

No. Only prosecutors can charge felonies. Any collection agency says that they can do so are violating the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You need to speak with an attorney, as soon as possible.
