collection on alarm system

I signed a 5 year contract for security alarm system monitoring but did not realize it was a 5 year contract because of the way it was presented by salesperson - we uninstalled it and sent it to the company now they are saying we owe the whole 5 years plus late charges and are trying to collect. Do we have to pay for this?

Without seeing the details of the contract, I cannot say for sure. With the facts you have given, I can only say yes. Take the contract to a lawyer for review. The devil is in the details.
