Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana
Co-signed for a friend
I co-signed for a friend a car. she made one payment on it and then returned it back to me when I was in ICU at the hospital from a tornado. My fiance had to trade in his car and pay a high amt to save my credit. I lost everything and he had to help me get out of this situation. My question is do we have any legal right to sue her for what I had to pay to get out of this debt? It was a very high interest loan (we had to pay $10,000+ she made 1 payment) because she had horrible credit. My fiance does not want to be involved in a lawsuit but I feel I would like to try. So can we sue and can I sue her alone without my finance being a part of this? This happened in November of 2005.

Re: Co-signed for a friend
You can sue her because you are the co-signor.
