Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana
My ex used a credit card of mine to pay for tools which he then took to his snapon and matco reps and traded in for better tools. He was supposed to be paying the bill. The card was in my name but the username for the online account plus every payment has been made by him and his card for the last two years. The account still isn't paid off and his new girlfriend (I left him due to physical abuse which I have well documented) is telling him not to pay the card off any further. Do I have any hope of getting that money back?
1 Answer from Attorneys
First of all, you need to check your card agreement to see who is responsible. Depending on the card and how it was held, it is possible that you may not owe it. You should consult with an attorney and you should definitely cancel the card. The odds of getting the money back aren't great, but the attorney who you talk to on your specific case can best advise you under your particular circumstances.
