Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Garnishments of wages

If plaintiff gets judgment against defendant in Small Claims Ct., can plaintiff contact defendant's employer immediately to start garnishement wages? Does defendant have to be notified first that plaintiff is going to do this or can he just contact employer without notifying defendant? What can defendant do to prevent this especially if he decides to appeal the judgment?

Re: Garnishments of wages

The plaintiff must file appropriate documents with the court to get a court order to get a garnishment. You have only a certain numbr of days to appeal a judgment. Check with the court.
