A judgment has a certain shelf-life, but it can be renewed. So, if they have a valid judgment, it can be enforced with a garnishment. You would be well served to sit down with the creditor's attorney and see what you can work out. Creditors will often accept a sincere payment plan or even a discounted lump sum payment.
