lease

i signed a 6 month lease for an apartment, while i was there they had to fix a screen door cause the wood had rotted, never fixed the leaky air conditioner, smoke alarms when we moved in, ect. after living there for almost 2 yrs without renewing they lease now they are trying to take me to court for over $3,000. can they do that without a lease?

Hard to tell. You say you lived there for two years and only had a 6 month lease. If you lived there, you leased the property. You may not have had a written lease but that is not the same thing as not having a lease.
