Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Is it legal to have a lawyer leave a message on a neighbors answering machine with the information stating there is a formal complaint/summons issued against me, and I have 1 opportunity to contact plaintif voluntarily. Also leave a file reference number, and say I have officially been notified. He dis not mention where he was calling from or that be was a lawyer.

It is unclear from your limited information, whether nay violations have occurred or whether any harm was done.
