Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana
Past Bill
I had a shop opened in 2001,purchased some product and was unable to take care of the debt, I lost my shop in 2002. The company is asking for payment but they are refusing a settlement sum, just adding on interest.i cannnot not even make the minimum payment with the interest being so high to pay off. I tried a debt consolidation place and they refuse to work with them on this matter. What am I liable to pay them or am i still liable since its been so many years??? I have no problem paying off what I originally bought from them but I cant make that sort of payment, they say the bill is about 10,000. I am trying to get back on my feet after a divorce, no job, 2 kids and 2 surgery's in the past several years. all other company's have worked with me and I am nowing paying them off, just want this one taken care of some how. Any help would or advice would be great. Thank You!! Paula

Re: Past Bill
Yes, they can still collect the money after all this time. With the situation you are describing, I think you had best consider bankruptcy.
