Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

My tax refund was deposited on 2/13 I used my walmart money debit card on 2/13 and 2/14 with no problem. I then tried to use it on 2/15 to pay my past due electric bill that was to be turned off and when I went to pay my card was declined. I then tried to get cash out at a atm machine and it was again declined. I had 2389.00 on the card so I knew there shouldn't be a problem the bill was 500.00. I called customer service and they told me that my account was closed down because they "didn't like how I was using my card". I argued with them for 2 hours calling them, green dot who owns walmart debit card and back with walmart. They all told me that they shut my account down with NO NOTICE because I used it to much and they didn't like how I was using it!! They gave me no notice at all that they shut it down. I then learned that they are holding my money for 10 business days to "investigate" what I bought and how I used MY card. Then after the 10 business days it's MY responsibility to call and ask for a refund check. I then had to go borrow money from family to get my electricity bill paid because my husband is unemployed and I am disabled and my SSI check doesn't come till the 1st and the electricity was due to be shut off.

It sounds like you were not treated properly. Credit card companies do have policies in effect, to protect their customers, which shuts down your card if it shows an unusual pattern of use. You need to make a formal complaint to your credit card company. But if you really haven't sustained any appreciable out of pocket losses, you don't have much economic damages.
