Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

unpaid loan

I loaned to a friend $10,000 in the form of a cashier's check five years ago. No contract was drawn up. It has remained unpaid, he has moved to a different state and refuses my phone calls, emails and faxes. I have a copy of the cashier's check but that is the only proof of the loan. What are my options if any?

Re: unpaid loan

The amount is too large for small claims and you have a statute of limitations problem, but more importantly are there any instate assets which can be used to pay for any judgment. You might see if you can locate an attorney in the state where the person now lives.
