Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Wage Garnishment

I live in Indiana and know that the max garnishment is 25% I can not afford that every week. I heard of a ''Claim of Exemption'' to get that reduced. How do I go about doing that? I am a single parent and with my living expences it just isn't affordable.

Re: Wage Garnishment

Sorry but any claim of exemption does not apply to wages. You might be able to find bankruptcy but you need to consult a bankruptcy attorney about that. You may be able to negotiate a lower voluntary payment with the collections attorney but he does not need to accept any offer you make.
