Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana

aiding and abedding

My husband and I had a friend come down to our home from another state. Come to find out he had warrents for his arrest from that state and he is on the run. We turned him in, but he was staying in our house when the police came here to arrest him for choking his girlfriend in our home. that is why we called the police. Now he is sending me a letter from jail saying he is going to put my husband and I in jail for aiding and abedding. Is there any way we can get charged with this and is there any way to put a charge on him for sending me this treatning letter?

Re: aiding and abedding

The Florida aiding and abetting law (called "accessory after the fact") requires that you be aware that he had warrants out and committed a crime, so, as you've described it, you wouldn't be guilty of that offense.

I doubt that his letter constitutes a crime, but you my want to report it the police. They may view it as witness tampering (if you are somehow a witness against him in his case) or some other crime.
