Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana

I am need of some assistance regarding my husband. Several weeks ago he shop lifted less than $13.00 worth of merchandise that we ended up paying for from Menards in Valpo, IN. The police issued a warrant for his arrest as it is a D2 felony since it is over $5.00. He did not put up a fight, nor did he leave the building with the merchandise. The security person apprehended him right after we had paid for all of the other merchandise that I had bought and we were about to leave the store. He has not been in trouble with the law since 20+ years ago for violating his probation back then. And that was in IL and served time in Cook county.

He wants to turn himself in. However, he has no clue how to go about it. My questions are: How long he will be stuck in jail until his hearing if he turns himself in first thing in the morning? Will get jail time since this is his first offense? If he gets jail time, what is the maximum he will have to serve?

Any thoughts and information will be gladly appreciated.
