can u be charged with attempted robbery even though u paid for your items

The short answer is you can be CHARGED with anything. If a jury finds that you never attempted to rob the store (I assume), you would be found not guilty. I suspect there are fact scenarios that would demonstrate an atempt to rob, even if payment was later made.
