Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
i have been charged with a class D felony because my boyfriend and I had an arguement when he yelled at me i tried to leave and he held me back I then slapped him and my son was in the other room so that is why the class D felony. I am concerned that I could be incarcerated (I had been initially) , I do not want to return to jail. Should I get a public defender or should I retain a lawyer?

Public defenders are lawyers. If you can hire private counsel of your own choosing, you should do so.
