Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
contempt of court
My spouse and i missed court for wage garnishment due to pure forgetfulness for a check n go type deal in december, my spouses check is now being garnished for this starting today. but he received papers today at work said we need to attend court in february for contempt for not showing up in december. do we need an attorney? are we going to go to jail? please give me an idea of what may occur. we are law abiding citizens without criminal records

Re: contempt of court
If this is the first time this has ever happened, you will probably not be in too much trouble, nless the judge is a over aggressive stickler. Just show up and answer the questions posed, and you should be OK.
