Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
Having conviction removed from record
I was convicted of a minor misdemeanor drug possesion charge roughly 5 years ago. I was told that at the time if I had retained an attorney that I would not have even been convicted. I did not. Is it possble to have a charge expunged from my record? I have had no further charges since then.
Thanks

While there was a time where this might have been possible, the law has changed.Given the nature of the statute as it's currently written, it is not likely your goal will result. It would seem that you could only acomplish this task if the matter had been dismissed or if you were found not guilty. There are of course some other steps to comply with as well.
