Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
Getting criminal records expunged.
How can I get my criminal records expunged? 7 years ago I was convicted of 3 felonies, this was during a time when I was an active addict, I have been clean for 6 years now and am about to graduate from college. I don't want my past to hinder my future. Is this something I can do myself? If I need an attorney, is it very expensive. How long does it take?

Re: Getting criminal records expunged.
This is not an automatic process in Indiana. One must show good cause for it in that if not granted it would cause a real hardship. Other factors will be the state's position on this as well the law enforcement agency which was involved in the matter. Using an attorney would be advisable. The cost may vary, but one may expect to invest roughly $2,000 to $3,500.
