What is a depostion? I had my boyfriend arrested for throwing me around and trying to hit me, now his attorney is sending me a deposition

In a deposition, his attorney gets a chance to ask you questions under oath to prepare for the trial. You need to appear and answer the questions truthfully about your now ex-boyfriend.
