How much time does it carry? And if the intended victim dose not show up for court can charges be dropped?

A "D" Felony charge carries a possible sentence ranging from 1 1/2 years to 3. Its possible that 6 mos could be served or that the entire sentence could be suspended depending on ones criminal history along with any existing mitigating and aggravating factors. Its possible that it could be dismissed if the essential witness fails to appear at the time of trial. However, depending on the venue, some courts may continue it if asked by the state. My would urge you to retain a private attorney ASAP!
