Barring very unusual circumstances (for example, if the defendant bribed the jury or judge), an acquittal irrevocably ends the government's right to prosecute the defendant for the same crime. Bringing new charges would amount to double jeopardy.

But the defendant might still be prosecuted by a different government. If he is acquitted by the state court but his actions also violated federal law, he could still be prosecuted in federal court. His statement and the photographic evidence could be used against him in that case.

He could also be prosecuted for a different but related crime. For example, if he had denied under oath that he killed the victim but then later admits that he did it, he could be tried for perjury.
