Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana

My husband has a court appointed attorney. I have had several appointments with his lawyer as he is still in jail. I gave his lawyer papers from a file (located in our home) belonging to the person with charges against my husband. His lawyer wanted the papers to use for a deposition he was taking from the person with charges against my husband. When my husband said he wanted to make sure he got the papers back his lawyer told him he had given the papers back to the person who had charges against him. We both think this was inappropriate and borders on unethical. What can we do about what this lawyer has done?

Whoever the papers belonged to has the right to possession of them. Since that was the other person, according to your posting, there is nothing unethical about the papers being returned to their rightful owner. If they were relevant to the case, your attorney should have made copies before they were returned.

BTW,only the state charges a crime, not an individual.
