If you are a step parent is it against the law to claim to be a childs biological parent on medical or other information about the child?

Re: Impersonation

Misleading information may pose some serious issues even if well intentioned.

If such misrepresentations are made under oath subject to penalties of perjury or in some other context where a true legal response is required, then one may find themselves in a very difficult legal position.

Beyond this, a true representation may be necessary for medical reasons as well as others which could have an adverse impact on the child in question.

I would urge that true representation be made even where the relationship is good one with the stepchild simply to prevent any unnecessary difficulties for yourself and the child.
