Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
invasion of privacy Kokomo,IN
My boyfriend is in the Howard Co Jail Kokomo,IN. Turned himself in for a warrant on April 1st. It was for texting his ex girlfriend who had a restraining order against him. He was just trying to get his stuff back. Now we come to find out he has 2 invasion of privacy things against him. His next court date is April 9, 2009. Does the court have to let him have a public defender? Can he be released on his own recognence?

Does the court have to let him have a public defender(for criminal charges)? Yes, if he qualifies as a person who can not afford one.
Can he be released on his own recognizance? Can he be, yes. Will he be? Probably not, but he can always ask.
