Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
Is it legal for a detective or other police officer to mislead, lie, and/or intimidate a 16 yr. old juvenile offender, who will most likely be waived to the adult system, in order to manipulate them into saying what the officer wants to hear? If so, can they they do this without a parent or attorney present?

No, some such behavior is not "legal", meaning they aren't supposed to coerce, but they can lie. (Rule #1-cops can lie). If under 18, the juvenile has to have the right to consult with a parent or guardian before waiving the right to remain silent (assuming they are in custody).
