Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
Hello, I live in Kentucky but was in Indiana visiting, my daughter was caught shoplifting at Walmart there. The police were called but no criminal charges were filed. About a month later I got a letter from an attorney that says I have to pay him a hundred dollars to settle a civil case. Can they do this? Does it sound like a scam? How can I find out?

It is not a scam. Check the Indiana statutes concerning retail theft.
