Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
The man that I lived with for over 10 years has just been charged with solicitation of his 13 year old step - daughter, he has a very long criminal history but nothing like this, will he now have to register as a sex offender, how much time will he get and do I need a protective order?

No way to know how much time he will get IF convicted. Yes, he will have to register as a sex offender IF convicted. Protective orders are granted after threats, harassment, etc., not JUST because a criminal charge has been filed.
