Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
Post Conviction Relief/Crime Spree
My fiancee committed 3 residential burglaries and resisted law enforcement all within 1-hr. He received 10 yrs on each count to run consecutively to eachother and to his other charges. Where can we turn for help on a post conviction relief-we have little financial means. He pled guilty; however, his sentence was unjust. He carried a loaded gun while committing these crimes; however, it was never found on him or shown- he did admit to carrying it. He was also under the influence of crack cocaine. Please help, he is the only surviving parent of a minor child.

Re: Post Conviction Relief/Crime Spree
It is difficult to give you a good feel for how well a PCR will do for him. It will be important to know if his convictions were part of a plea which may limit this option, or if sentenced after being convicted as a result of trial. IF the offenses were not in the sane time frame, it may explain why the sentences were consecutive. The court may have had little choice in complying with the law. A full review of his cases will be required to really determine these issues. Cost for post convicttion relief will vary depending on the complexity of the matter. I would say you may be looking at a figure between $2,000 and $5,000.If this is not possible for you, consult with the public defenders office.
