Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
probation violation
My sister was recently arrested for a probation violation for violating a no contact order and also a charge of invasion of privacy... She was recently told that they passed a new law in Indiana that there is a mandatory 70 day sentence for a probation violation... is this true? She has already served 18 days... what is the likelyhood that she will be let out when she goes to court friday? She is being held on no bond...

Re: probation violation
I haven't heard of such a law. Sounds like a "jail house lawyer" who doesn't know what the law is running off at the mouth. That being said, she is likely to have to serve the rest of the suspended sentence if she's convicted. She needs an attorney to help her minimize the damage.
