Theft in Indiana is a class D felony which carries a minimum sentence of 6 months and a maximum sentence of 3 years with an advisory sentence of 1 1/2 years. An attorney can carefully review the facts of your case and any prior criminal history you have to help determine what is likely to happen in your specific case and community. Cooperation with law enforcement and acceptance of responsibility are things which can mitigate a sentence and be used to argue that the correct sentence is more towards the minimum.
