If someone is sentenced a consecutive sentence on the same cause number, shouldn't that be concurrent? Is it legal for someone to serve two consecutive sentences under the same cause number?

Separate cause numbers have nothing to do with it. Sentences for two separate crimes can run consecutively, one cause number or two.
