If you are contacted by a cop & told you need to ''come in to make a statement'' are you obligated to do so?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! You should NEVER, give a statement to the police without an attorney. Ever. You cannot talk yourself out of charges, but only talk yourself into them. I hope, I'm not unclear.
