statue of limitations
What is the statue of limitations in for a civil action. You are charged with theft from employer, however prosecuted for smaller amount then what was turned into the insurance company, if found guilty of 1/3 of amount when and if when can you be civially sued for the balance or even 3 times the amoung.

The criminal matter is usually resolved with full restitution to the employer made as a part of the sentence or as a condition of probation.
This is much more effective than a civil suit.
