Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
If someone stole a piece of jewelry that the owner paid $200 for and they found out who stole it, is the owner entitled to the price they paid for it ($200) or would they be entitled to the original value of the jewelry? The owner would have an appraisal stating that the value is worth $1000. Also it is questionable that the jewelry was stolen and then sold for $200.

Restitution would be for the value at the time it was stolen.
