Is it illegal to have or use a tape or digital recorder in a federal building, specificly a VA Hospital. Im an employee and I was told it was federal crime and would be terminated if I had a recorder.

Re: tape recordings
I'm not aware that having a recorder in a federal building is a crime.
Regardless, if your superiors told you not to do it, you can be fired - crime or not.
Re: tape recordings
Regardless it is crime or not, you may be fired upon non-compliance of your superiors. Some times non crime matters are shown as crime, but despite they are not crime, command of seniors must be adhered.
