theft and getting charged

My husband and his friend stole 2 TV's from a hotel while furnishing the rooms. They put the TV's back but they were caught on camera stealing and were arrested. He is being charged this week and i was wondering what kind of punishment would be given? I'm not sure if he would have to serve a sentence, be on probation, receive community service, or combination of all. He is a first time offender and has a wife and a baby, i don't know if those would factor into anything. But if you could get back to me that would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

Any or all of the options you mentioned are possible. The fact that he has a wife and a baby plays very little in role in my experience. Since he's probably going to be charged with a felony, he needs to consider hiring an attorney to help him explore his options.
