Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
first time offender
my friend is a first time offender and has been sentenced to 23 years in prison. Her lawyer did not fight for her he took the first plea deal offered. I think that she was wrongfully represented is there any thing that can be done her charges are class a felony delivery, class b felony delivery, she was set up by her dealer whom has 5 warrents and is still a free man, what could be done in this case she has cooperated and has given his name and everything in her power to save herself and still got a bad call in life 23 yrs seems like a long time for someone that was a first time offender what direction could i tell her to go?

Re: first time offender
If sentenced less than 30 days ago, hire an attorney to see whether the sentence is appealable under the plea agreement (The minimum sentence for a class A is 20 years). If too late for that, hire an attorney to discuss possible sentence modification with the prosecutor.
