In October I got an OWI..it was a first offense. I have been to court once for my initial hearing..and again where I was denied for a public defender because of my tax check amount. My question is..do I need to hire a lawyer and if so what can they do for me? I have the option of going 90 days with absolutely no license or 180 days with a license for work only. I want to do the 90 day option because I've already been suspended for over half that time..March 20 will be 90 days. The problem is I don't go back to court until March 30..so can I request a court hearing myself before March 20 to ask the judge for the 90 day suspension?

Hire an attorney. The repercussions of a conviction are significant.
