gardenship for my father needs 24 hour assistance and should not drive any more Ihe is a hard headed old man and will not listen to reason

It is really a question of whether you need to do the right thing and petition the court to get guardianship of your father. If he contests it, you will have to establish that it is in the best interest of the father to have the guardianship. This type of situation arises often. After all, if he was rational enough to not need a guardian, you would not be asking for one in the first place, right?
